Home Learning from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for Week beginning 11.5.20
Hello again, we hope that you are all safe and well and we can see from the home learning that you have been really busy and productive, which is amazing to see!
We have really enjoyed seeing the range of work from home and how some of you celebrated VE Day last Friday. Below are some examples of this week's work from home.
Writing- some wonderful descriptive poetry. Can you find any adjectives or adverbs? Can you find any figurative language? Can you find any interesting vocabulary? Do the poems make you feel as if you are there?
One child composed an amazing poem about a hawk. It includes some effective figurative language and some excellent vocabulary choices. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did.

One cold, scary night
the hawk glides into the dusk,
The howling of the wind
like a wolf in the night
the storm is about to
start, trees swaying side to side,
the hawk with its
razor-sharp vision
spies on its scrumptious
feast,
the forest floor was
gathering puddles,
the rabbit looked up and started to run,
with panic and fear in
its eyes,
it jumped into its
burrow,
just missing the hawks
shark talons as it swooped down
the rabbits heart was
pounding with fear,
the hawk was angry with
a hungry and rumbly belly
the wind pushes the hawk
to the ground,
the hawk fell and
smashed into the ground with a thump,
the hawk got to its feet
and took off to find its feast ,
it spots its prey and
swoops down opening its talons catching it this time,
the rabbit was squealing
with fear,
as they both took off
into the night sky…..
DESCRIPTIVE POEM ABOUT MY CATS BY GRAYSON
I have some cats and their names are BARNEY, PEBBLES they have
soft fur, green eyes, BIG EARS.
I stroke them and I play with them. I have lots of fun.
They like to hunt for Birds and Mice and we get to clean it up.
Cats are nocturnal they like to sleep in the day and are
awake at night.
Cats have good hearing and smell.
Cats are great pets. We are lucky to have them.
Cats are great explorers they can also see in the dark.
Cats are brave animals I am so proud of them.
They always come in and out of our cat flap.
I love my cat’s they’re great.
THE
HUNTING TIGER by Maya Palmer-MacDonald
In
the Savannah with the trees and tall grass
The
tiger plays with its cute cubs
With
its webbed feet to swim in the warm water
Razor
sharp teeth to catch fish
Fearless
eyes to see its prey
Sharp
claws to climb rocks
Outstanding
stripes to hide from its prey
Slow,
then fast to hunt
Its
elegant growl to frighten animals away
The Fox
As
dusk appears
The
old fox waits
His
den is full of hungry mouths
He
is the hunter
A
flash in the undergrowth
His
whiskers start to twitch
A
rabbit or a mouse
Will
do just fine
He
crouches ready to pounce
As
the moonlight shines
He
catches his prey
As
time passes
the
cubs grow strong
they
are sly and ruthless
they
can hunt like their dad
beware
of the fox
he
is cunning
