Yrs 3, 4, 5 and 6 week beginning 4.5.20

Hello to everyone again- we hope that you are all safe and well and have enjoyed another sunny week!

It has been so lovely to read your emails and see the home learning you have been doing- well done to all our children and families for what you have achieved; thank you for keeping your skills going- and for showing your amazing learning.

Some writing...

One child wrote based an amazing short story based on the book (How to write your best story ever' by Christopher Edge. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we all did.

Aurora and the detective dinosaur

Lying in bed, one bright and lush morning Aurora was snoring.
It was a strange mysterious kind of day and Aurora was a SPY, a very cool spy, she had a watch with screens from cameras that she had hidden all over the city, pistols that pop out when she needs them and much more cool but deadly things.
Aurora has long platted hair that’s black. Everyone cheered as she walked past until…

There was a man called ‘Hasty’ oh he was mean, he had even murdered some people, and that’s why it’s Auroras job to save everybody. Early that morning Aurora crept out of bed and left the building on her zipline it was awesome, until she met hasty “oh no” she cried “everyone go inside”. Everyone went inside as quick as a flash “lock your doors and don’t look back”. Just as Aurora was about to die a giant creature leapt up high, it was a dinosaur, not an ordinary one but a detective dinosaur. “Thank goodness you saved me” she exclaimed. Then as she was riding high almost close enough to reach the sky, she shouted “loserrrrr” to Hasty, and everyone cheered!
Whilst fussing the dinosaur, Aurora whispered, “we’re safe at last” and after that they never heard or saw Hasty ever again!

THE END.

Now for some rhyming poetry- lots of fun!

SILLY SAUSAGE

Once there was a sausage who hadn’t a clue.
He sailed down a river in a canoe,
and lost his only grubby shoe.
And his only friend is a cuckoo.

He only eats shampoo.
Oh, he wanted a boot shiny, leather and new.
One day he climbed up a long, thin bamboo.
When he got to the top, he saw his friend Sue.
She handed him a sparkly new shoe.
He loved it so much it stuck to him like glue.

This poem has rhyme in the 2nd and 4th line of each verse...

A poem with ideas from Roald Dahl's book...

Some reading comprehension...

Some maths...

Maths with cookery...

Maths with PE: mental maths in the breaks!

Some Science....

One child has been busy planting seeds. They have germinated already. Please remember to keep a record of the height of the seedlings every few days, so we can use the data to create graphs and tables.

Here is a brilliant example of setting up the Science experiment about seed growth- what is looks like (pot 6 is somewhere else), notes about the fair test and predictions, with the first observation sheet completed on day 2:

Someone else's results table- how will you set up your table to collect your results in? You will need your results, so don't forget to record how your different plants grow...

Another child's conditions for plant growth investigation...

More planting...
